Resident involvement
Our website is a really useful way for us to keep in contact with our tenants and residents and offer opportunities to actively get involved in our range of services and activities.
We aim:
- to provide a variety of initiatives to allow you to participate at the level you require
- to empower and develop resident involvement
- to promote a ‘partnership’ culture, and
- to supply information and feedback on service performance.

Training opportunities
We work with other agencies and organisations to offer a variety of training opportunities for you or your group such as:
- TRUST Group
- InStep (a national service which offers a number of services to help tenants and landlords work together to inform and empower residents and to encourage tenant participation)
Trust Conference
On Friday 10 November a group of our residents and staff joined residents from Poole Housing Partnership, Bournemouth BC, New Forest District Council and East Dorset Housing Association at the Durley Hall in Bournemouth for our annual tenants and leaseholders conference. As members of TRUsT (Tenants R Us Training) group all the residents enjoyed an afternoon of workshops around the theme of ‘Opportunity – Making the Most of It’.
We were treated to the delights of ‘cooking on a shoestring’ where we had the opportunity not only to get some good advice on how to prepare nutritious meals, but also to sample them! Coastal and Hampshire Credit Unions gave us a very topical and useful presentation on making the most of your money. Any residents who decided to joint the Credit Union on the day had there joining fees paid by TRUsT. Later in the evening everyone enjoyed a well deserved gala dinner and had the opportunity take part in a fun quiz night!
Tenant Inspectors Come to Twynham Housing Association
Not only have we been inspected by the Audit commission this year, but our repairs and maintenance service was inspected by three tenant inspectors from the Vale. Likewise, two of our residents carried out a similar inspection at the Vale. All of the residents taking part had been on an intense two day training course earlier in the Summer with other residents from across our and other groups in the Southern Counties.
Everyone attending the group was very enthusiastic and clearly took their responsibilities seriously. They even came up with a name for the project which is both catchy and meaningful. The chosen name is IRIS, which stands for Independent Resident Inspection Service and does exactly what is says on the tin! For two days in August the three resident inspectors from the Vale came into this office and met with key officers and Managers throughout the organisation.
Because of their training they were able to ask the right questions after scrutinising all of our maintenance policies and procedures and performance information. They also spoke to some of our residents to find out their views on the service. After a lot of hard work on their part they produced a very professional report and gave us some recommendations that they thought would make the service better. I am pleased to tell you that we took up all of their recommendations, which we agree should make a better service to you.
For a full copy of the report, or if you are interested in becoming a Tenant Inspector, please contact James Taylor Resident Involvement Officer on 01202 460348, or you can download the report from this website from here.
