Twynham Housing Association’s Policy on Anti - Social Behaviour:
Twynham Housing Association is committed to taking prompt action to deal with anti-social behaviour. We will do everything we can to communicate to our expected standards of behaviour and inform them what action will be taken if these are breached.
Reports of nuisance and anti-social behaviour will be taken seriously and reported incidents investigated thoroughly, and if proven, appropriate action will be taken. Twynham works in partnership with the Police, other agencies and residents to deal effectively with perpetrators and help people who are affected by anti-social behaviour.
Twynham seeks to create a balanced between prevention, enforcement action and the reintegration of those affected by anti-social behaviour.
What is Anti-Social Behaviour?
The Anti-Social Behaviour Act, 2003 defines anti-social behaviour as:
“Conduct which is capable of causing a nuisance or annoyance to any person and directly or indirectly relates to or affects the housing management functions of a relevant landlord”
OR
“Conduct which consists of or involves using or threatening to use housing accommodation owned or managed by a relevant landlord for an unlawful purpose”
Twynham believes that the following activities could be classed as anti-social behaviour.
- Racial and homophobic harassment
- Intimidation and harassment
- Domestic violence
- Aggressive and threatening language
- Aggressive and threatening behaviour
- Actual violence against people and property
- Using a property to sell drugs
- Using a property for other unlawful purposes
- Noise nuisance
- Misuse of public areas
The above list is not exhaustive but gives examples of what we could class as anti-social behaviour.
As part of the Associations continuous improvement programme we have a forum of residents who meet regular to see how we can improve the service to residents on anti - social behaviour, if you would like more information or become involved with the forum, please contact us.
