Twynham is a charitable registered social landlord (RSL) based in Christchurch, Dorset and was founded in 1989.
First registered as an Industrial & Provident Society & Housing Association in 1989, the Association received 1,600 homes from Christchurch Borough Council as the result of a successful ballot of tenants giving rise to a Large Scale Voluntary Transfer [LSVT].
Since transfer Twynham has focused on the provision, management and maintenance of social housing not only in Christchurch but across all the local authority area of Dorset plus the New Forest, Fareham and Eastleigh.
As a result, the Association has over 4,000 properties in management. This includes properties let under Twynham's Temporary Social Housing Programme, where properties are leased from owners and landlords in the private sector and let by the Association to homeless families and other applicants in housing need.
THA joined the Sovereign Housing Group on 1 April 2005. And in April 2007, Sovereign Housing Association transferred its 1039 homes in Dorset and south Hampshire to Twynham under a management agreement.
Twynham is based at modern offices in central Christchurch.
As a Housing Association, Twynham is governed by a Board of Management
normally composed of 11 voluntary members, including 3 Tenant Board members and a member co-optee from Sovereign Housing Group.
